Synthetic and organic CBD oil are both made from the cannabis plant called hemp, and there’s been a lot of discussion about which kind is best. Some people believe the synthetic version contains purer compounds, which translates to more effective results. However, one study published in the Journal of Pharmacology & Pharmacy had something different to say about the matter. Learn more about the organic version and synthetic versions of CBD oil.
The term “organic” is defined by the US Department of Agriculture as any item that is produced or grown without the use of pesticides, genetically modified organisms, ionizing radiation, and sewage sludge. When a product is certifiably organic, it means that 95 percent of the components and ingredients used in the item are produced with these organic standards. Products that are labeled as “made with organic” items must contain at least 70 percent organically certified ingredients.
Organic CBD oil is produced with organically grown and processed hemp and added ingredients, some but not all ingredients are organically certified, to make the product at least 95 percent organic.
Synthetic CBD oil is produced with hemp that is grown with any of the non-organic practices and other ingredients that are not certifiably organic. This could potentially lead to fewer nutrients and more chemicals in the product.
Studies conducted on CBD oil are few and far between, but the ones that have been done on synthetic oil show a very distinct pattern. When it comes to administering synthetic CBD, there comes a point where additional CBD will cease to have any benefits for the participant. These researchers found that while synthetic oil did produce positive results, the dosage window was very limited. It also seemed to take longer to determine the efficacy of the actual CBD. Researchers freely admit that the safe and effective range of administration for CBD are not well-known. It's partially dependent on a person’s weight, lifestyle, and body chemistry. But it may also depend upon the type and spectrum of CBD oil you are using.
When the researchers decided to contrast their study by using organic CBD oil from the whole plant, they found that results were observed more quickly and more powerfully than the synthetic. What it seems to suggest is that synthetic and whole plant CBD oil may be similar, but that the whole plant gives researchers an easier and more rapid way to understand the benefits of CBD and what amounts are triggering the user’s relief.
Whole plant CBD also appears to be preferred by some users because they can experience potential benefits faster than with synthetic CBD products. It’s one of the reasons why water-soluble products are so popular — because it gives people a chance to learn more about what their body needs and how to use CBD so it works for them.
Organic food has been all the rage lately, and it’s sparked some very strong opinions and support regarding other products people use, from household cleaners to CBD. There are dozens of strong groups advocating against the dangers of pesticides and mass-produced synthetic products. When it comes to organic products, proponents say the more commercial a food becomes, the fewer nutrients it has.
The real truth may not be as dramatic as all that, but there is something to be said for eating food that’s been naturally grown and using products that are free from extraneous chemicals. Pesticides have been linked to health issues, from skin problems to infertility, and it’s a good idea to limit them even if you’re not planning on cutting them out completely. It naturally follows that in addition to food and beverages, when it comes to CBD products, consumers are looking for organic CBD that is produced with the purest ingredients and without chemicals or additives.
Our non-GMO, hemp-derived CBD oil ensures that what buyers are putting in their body is beneficial, not harmful. Responsibly grown products are not only beneficial to the consumer, but they also help the environment by putting fewer chemicals, pesticides, and harmful elements into the atmosphere.
